WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
Two of the coolest dudes on the planet land in trouble when they witness a policewoman committing murder while they’re tripping on drugs. Will they survive?
WHO WILL ENJOY IT?
Anyone who enjoys Seth Rogen’s films - which remind more and more of Kevin Smith’s comedies. It’s supercool, even though drugs are a major theme and you may feel the dangers of drug abuse aren’t taken seriously enough. Yet it’s a hysterically funny, cheeky comedy with attitude about a bunch of clumsy palookas who don’t know how to make sense of their pointless lives. The dialogue is original and will have you laughing until your stomach hurts; the characters make the heart pump custard, no matter how irreverent they get.
WAIT FOR DVD?
You’ll definitely want to see it again on DVD - even if it’s just to have another look at James Franco’s unique character and slow-motion jokes! Certain scenes are too long while others - including those involving drugs - may be offensive to some. But if you’re a survivor of the hippie era you’ll appreciate it. But don’t take mom or dad as it may leave them feeling uncomfortable. And the ear-carving scene is no laughing matter.
