Everyone is talking about the Virgin Festival which hits our shores in December. The festival has been running for 12 years and this is the first time it’s being held in South Africa.
Eighteen local and international bands, 12 hours of music and thousands of fans are expected to hit Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in what’s guaranteed to be one of the biggest music festivals ever to be held in SA.
Some of the red-hot artists that will perform are Maroon 5 (ABOVE), Sugababes, OneRepublic, Snoop Dogg, Eddy Grant, The Parlotones, Zebra and Giraffe and The Dirty Skirts.

The album doesn’t say Greatest Hits - but it should. These rock icons have crammed 21 of their hottest hits (including Build Me Up Buttercup, Higher, Can’t Get Enough and Only When It Rains) on an album that rocks from start to finish. Another bonus is the 20-track music video DVD. Arguably one of the best local rock releases ever.

Teen superstar Miley is definitely trying to grow up and shake off her syrupy Hannah Montana image. For the most part she has succeeded. The first track, Breakout, is a disappointing rant about school but 7 Things is edgy as is Fly on the Wall. Miley does a great remake of Cyndi Lauper’s classic Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Worth the hype
